Outdoor Kitchens That Work
Outdoor kitchen design that works
You've seen the pictures in magazines, watched the shows on TV, an now you've got it set in your mind that having an outdoor kitchen would really enhance your home and your life.  Imagine, a place to cook and relax outside, a place to hang out with your family and friends, just like you do inside the house.  After all, isn't that where everyone gathers, in the kitchen?

How do you go about it?  How do you set the plan?  Well, follow this easy guide and you're ready to go.

There are two most important things you have to consider first.  One is exactly what you want to do in your new outdoor kitchen and the other is, of course, your budget.

Do you want to have every aspect of your kitchen outside, basically duplicating an indoor kitchen?  Grill, burners, refrigerator, storage, sink, wine cooler, counter, table, bar?  Can you fit all this into your budget?  If not, what would you use more?

Next you need to consider your location and if all this fits into your space.  Where on your property is that place going to be?  Do you want it to be close to the house for ease of use, particularly if you do not have all of the amenities in the plan?  Do you want to put it further away from the house?  Doing this gives you more depth of use of your property.  It gives you the feel of more open space outside.  Be sure that the area you are thinking of complies with all your local municipality's building codes.

When you are considering where you want to put your outdoor kitchen, you also need to consider the climate you are in and the micro-climate of the area you are considering.  Also, do you want to use it year round?  What about during a summer rain?  Is it going to be near the pool, or in the garden?  Is it in a very sunny place?

Once you get all this decided, you can start to plan your layout.  Measure your area completely and exactly.  Get some graph paper and put down your perimeter lines.
